quality <strong>of</strong> data and its analysis. After the analysis <strong>of</strong> data, f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs should be<br />

shared with the community members so that collective developmental strategies<br />

can be decided.<br />

Develop<strong>in</strong>g options for identified sectors<br />

• After the data analysis, the follow<strong>in</strong>g areas <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>tervention should be<br />

identified, as applicable:<br />

• Soil and water conservation activities to control soil erosion.<br />

• Promotion <strong>of</strong> water harvest<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

• Maximization <strong>of</strong> irrigation use efficiency by <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g use <strong>of</strong> micro-irrigation<br />

technology.<br />

• Promotion <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>tegrated crop management practices.<br />

• Promotion <strong>of</strong> quality seeds.<br />

• Promotion <strong>of</strong> allied sectors such as dairy, poultry, etc.<br />

This will be developed by the plann<strong>in</strong>g team with due consultation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

community, experts, and block and district adm<strong>in</strong>istration. The Panchayat should<br />

also take the services <strong>of</strong> experts from research <strong>in</strong>stitutions, subject matter<br />

specialists, etc. As a result, a design for sector wise development will come out<br />

vetted by the experts <strong>of</strong> different sectors. After the f<strong>in</strong>alisation <strong>of</strong> the thematic<br />

sector, broader level discussions should be done for more suggestions and clarity<br />

<strong>of</strong> the strategies.<br />

Identification <strong>of</strong> resources and match<strong>in</strong>g with needs<br />

The next step is resource identification. Resources can be identified from different<br />

central and state sponsored schemes, tied and untied funds, MP/MLA funds,<br />

locally available natural resources, special purpose grants etc. After resource<br />

identification, the plann<strong>in</strong>g team should sit together and match the needs with<br />

the identified resources. In the process <strong>of</strong> the resource mapp<strong>in</strong>g and match<strong>in</strong>g<br />

exercise, the Panchayat should take the help <strong>of</strong> block and district adm<strong>in</strong>istration,<br />

as well as technical support <strong>in</strong>stitutions.<br />

Approval <strong>of</strong> plans by the Gram Sabha<br />

After the preparation <strong>of</strong> the village agriculture plan, it should be discussed <strong>in</strong><br />

the Gram Sabha for approval. If any changes are suggested by the Gram Sabha,<br />
