MIDH will work closely with National Mission on Susta<strong>in</strong>able<br />

Agriculture (NMSA) to wards development <strong>of</strong> Micro-Irrigation<br />

for all horticulture crops and protected cultivation on farmers’<br />

field.<br />

Promote holistic growth <strong>of</strong> horticulture sector, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

bamboo and coconut through area based regionally<br />

differentiated strategies, which <strong>in</strong>cludes research, technology<br />

promotion, extension, post harvest management, process<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and market<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Encourage aggregation <strong>of</strong> farmers <strong>in</strong>to farmer groups like FIGs/<br />

FPOs and FPCs to br<strong>in</strong>g economy <strong>of</strong> scale and scope.<br />

Enhance horticulture production, augment farmers, <strong>in</strong>come<br />

and strengthen nutritional security<br />

Improve productivity by way <strong>of</strong> quality germplasm, plant<strong>in</strong>g<br />

material and water use efficiency through Micro Irrigation.<br />

Support skill development and create employment generation<br />

opportunities for rural youth <strong>in</strong> horticulture and post harvest<br />

management, especially <strong>in</strong> the cold cha<strong>in</strong> sector.<br />

State Level Executive Committee will organize base-l<strong>in</strong>e survey<br />

and feasibility studies for dist<strong>in</strong>ct areas/clusters to determ<strong>in</strong>e<br />

status and potential and demand<br />

District Plann<strong>in</strong>g Committee and Panchayati Raj Institutions<br />

(PRI) will be <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> implement<strong>in</strong>g the programme<br />

commensurate with their expertise and available<br />

<strong>in</strong>frastructure. They will have a role <strong>in</strong>:<br />

· Identification <strong>of</strong> crops/species and beneficiaries <strong>in</strong><br />

consultation with District Panchyats.<br />

· Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, Extension and Awareness creation through<br />

Panchayats and Gram Sabhas (GS).<br />

· Organization <strong>of</strong> PRI and GS meet<strong>in</strong>gs and giv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

feed back to the concerned <strong>of</strong>ficials with regard to<br />

implementation <strong>of</strong> MIDH.<br />
