must be developed.<br />

All <strong>in</strong>dustries must be mandated to adopt water efficient<br />

technologies.<br />

Incentivize efficient use <strong>of</strong> water.<br />

Dis<strong>in</strong>centivize <strong>in</strong>efficient use <strong>of</strong> water.<br />

Work with Water Utility Boards, M<strong>in</strong>istry <strong>of</strong> Water Resources to<br />

evolve a monitor<strong>in</strong>g protocol across the project area.<br />

Harvest ra<strong>in</strong> water<br />

<strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>dustrial<br />

premises<br />

Mandate Ra<strong>in</strong>water Harvest<strong>in</strong>g (RWH) <strong>in</strong> all <strong>in</strong>dustrial<br />

establishments.<br />

Dis<strong>in</strong>centivize <strong>in</strong>dustries who do not have RWH on their<br />

premises.<br />

Treat effluent to<br />

acceptable standards<br />

before releas<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to<br />

rivers or other water<br />

bodies<br />

Heavy penalties to be levied by State Pollution Control Boards<br />

on <strong>in</strong>dustrial units discharg<strong>in</strong>g raw effluents <strong>in</strong>to rivers.<br />

Facilitate <strong>in</strong>terest-free loans or subsidies to set up effluent<br />

treatment plants <strong>in</strong> the unit. E.g. Tirupur <strong>in</strong>centivized effluent<br />

treatment plants, reduc<strong>in</strong>g pollution <strong>in</strong> the Noyyal River.<br />

Incentivize <strong>in</strong>dustries that treat effluent.<br />

Incentivize <strong>in</strong>dustries that reuse the treated effluents with<strong>in</strong><br />

the units.<br />

Industrial development boards should collaborate with State<br />

Pollution Control Boards to rout<strong>in</strong>ely monitor and implement<br />

measure to mitigate pollution.<br />
