The advt on page 33 of WRTH 2006 was quite a surprise for me: Telefunken
Sendersysteme has been renamed Transradio Sendersysteme. I wonder why,
since I can hardly imagine that they scrapped the Telefunken brand (some
say: that's amongst the txs what Mercedes is amongst the cars) without
need. By the way, the photo in this ad shows the 2 x 400 kW txs for 756
kHz at the Braunschweig-Koenigslutter stn. Out of view is another TRAM
tx for 630 kHz (Voice of Russia). There is plenty of space in this tx hall
after the large tube txs have been removed.
During the last few days short DRM tests were noted on 1269, suggesting
that the Neumuenster-Arpsdorf site has been equipped with a new TRAM tx
now as well.
As already reported the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg mediumwave tx on 567
will be closed down by yearend. Now I have to add with sadness that this
will happen the same way than the closure of SWR's SW txs a year ago:

GERMANY/ROMANIA Radio Romania International (RRI) has commenced its
first ever broadcast using DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale with the assistance
of WRN, the London-based digital radio and television txion provider.
Since 16th October 2006, RRI, the international voice of Romania, has been
broadcasting a daily, 30 min, English lang show to Europe from 1400 UTC
during the Summer season on 7160 kHz and during the Winter season from
1500 UTC on 7340 kHz at 60 kW (RMS DRM power). WRN has organised these DRM
broadcasts for RRI using a tx site in Germany and is undertaking sce
monitoring and technical support.
Eugen Cojocariu, Head of Radio Romania International, says, "It is our
great pleasure to announce that Radio Romania International is the first
Romanian radio station to enter the DRM Club. We are very happy to be
there because we are sure that the future is digital with DRM. I hope our
European listeners will enjoy the daily half an hour English show coming
from Bucharest."
