TAIWAN [to LAOS] 15260, Clandestine, Hmoob Moj Them (presumed), June 2
(Fri.), 0206-0226 UT, non-stop talking, clearly some type of SE Asian
lang, 0226 nice songs (sounded like folk mx), signal fluttery and only
fair, but by 0230 was poor. Not heard after 0230, so probably did signed
off, bit I was unable to make out any sign-off annmts.
TAIWAN/FRANCE RTI dropped the direct txion of its German service from
Taiwan (1800-1900 on 9955) as of June 1 because reception was always
unsatisfactory. They suggest as substitute a new relay via Issoudun, 2100-
2200 on 3965, introduced already on March 26 but slipping by my attention
so far. Must be the first German-language txions from this site since
1996, when RFI kicked its German sce off shortwave.
Checked the new relay last night: Huge signal, the ATS 909 produced a
"plopp" when the carrier came up at 2058. Audio somewhat distorted,
probably especially obvious here due to the very aggressive audio
processing on the new ALLISS units at Issoudun.
UKRAINE According to my info, UR2 (Promin) is relayed via Lviv since 1
May. Frequency is 549 kHz. Can anybody hear it?
(open_dx - Alexander Yegorov-UKR, via RUS-DXsignal May 31)
Oh, it answers the question that bothered me - about the 4th carrier on
549 kHz. By the way, it was already active on 24 April. That morning I
measured the carrier differences relative to tx in Mykolayiv (it is the
nearest to me) and got the following results: Brovary: 0.17 Hz Vinnitsa:
0.29 Hz New one: 0.03 Hz.
15515 Darfur Salaam via Woofferton, 1710-1729* May 29, man and woman
talking in Arabic followed by flute and string instrumentals. Numerous
brief talk segments with flute and string mx between items. Two mentions
of program name and BBC including at closedown. Good signal but // 17585
(Ascension Isl) was only poor to fair. Initial reports had this as Cyprus.
