U.K./SUDAN 17660 sSIRI, southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction
(via UK?) was noted 16 March at tune in 0633 on 17660 kHz. Fair signal,
but improving all the time. Program was "Learning Village" in English.
Lesson for schoolchildren with numerous "Teacher, ask your pupils to...".
0659 ID "You've been listening to the Learning Village brought to you by
southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction...". Off at 0700 UT.
Within couple of minutes I got a nice reply to my "monitoring report" from
sSIRI. v/s Leesa Kaplan, Chief of Party, sSIRI in Nairobi. "We are airing
the programs via VT Merlin in the UK" she wrote. This can mean tx site in
UK or then not.
Schade!
(Dietrich Hommel-D, A-DX Mar 11)
Re an e-mail of Dietrich Hommel-D in A-DX, I have doubts that some RTI
relays via European sites are updated well yet in A-06 list.
Thanks Dietrich, according your investigation I've my doubts about RTI
German Al Dhabbaya entry in A-06 list. 6170 kHz from UAE in Sommer at 2100
Local Time will result in a very poor signal in Central Europe, I guess.
In the latest VT - MNO - Merlin A06 list, for example French is registered
still via Skelton 6045 kHz, and German also still via Skelton-UK 6185 kHz,
same like A05 registration entries in previous summer schedule.
RTI
French Days Area kHz Site kW
1900-2000 UT daily wEu 3955 Skelton 250
Spanish Days Area kHz Site kW
2000-2100 UT daily Eu 5975 NAU 100
German Days Area kHz Site kW
1900-2000 UT daily Eu 6170 Dhabayya 250
I believe the RTI freq manager didn't update some VT-MNO freqs yet.
from VT list in A06 season:
6045 1900-2000 smtwtfs MNO Skelton 250kW 165deg French WeEUR HR 2/2/0.5
6185 1900-2000 smtwtfs MNO Skelton 250 105 German WeEUR HR 2/1/0.5
(wb, wwdxc BC-DX Mar 11)
Please note that the freqs for the new SW season, starting Sunday 26 March
2006, have changed and will be as follows:
0700-0900 UT: 17875 kHz
0900-1100 UT: 17875 kHz
I am pleased to say that for this season we have been able to use the same
freq for both time slots.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
