IRAN/LITHUANIA 15085 IRIB Tehran heard (seemingly) testing at 0830-0930
UT in MELAU (believed to be BM/BI) language. Regularly afternoon program
is scheduled 1230-1330 on 15200 and 17570 (reserve 15275/15295).
IRIB via Sitkunai Lithuania relay will replace 6250 by 6255 as from Dec
1st (thanks to Paul Gager). Probably at 1730-1830 German 6250, 1830-1930
French 6250, 1930-2030 English, 2030-2130 Spanish range.
ITALY RAI Caltanissetta. Former Italian HS site using 6060 kHz 25 kW &
7175/9515 kHz 5kW SW & 189 kHz LW.
Below are some personal speculations & observations from GE browsing of
the site:
SW Monopole antenna at 37 29 54 N 14 03 56 E
SW Feeders or antennas?? at 37 29 55.11 N 14 03 54.59 E
LW Antenna at 37 29 53 N 14 04 04 E
Link Tower ?? at 37 29 50 N 14 04 00 E
Former Monopole Antenna at 37 29 46.47 N 14 04 03.36 E?
Any further feedback/comments/corrections on the above appreciated.
According to Wolfgang: "Today - Jan 19, 2005 - at 1045 UT longwave tx from
Caltanissetta on LW 189 kHz went off air forever."
Thanks to feedback from Andrea Borgnino, the SW transmissions from
Caltanissetta ceased in May 2003.
A reminder that many Italian HF sites can be viewed here:
With reference to the item about ITALY in the current issue of BCDX:
I noted many years ago in RAI's magazine (that they sent out to their SW
listeners) that RAI changed its SW site from Santa Palomba to Prato
Smeraldo.
Do you know if the site you gave the MW co-ordinates for is the same site
where RAI's SW transmitters/antennas were located?
I am also curious to know when the new site became operational & the older
site discontinued if you have that information available?
(Ian Baxter-AUS, TXsite project, Nov 25)
Ian, I guess you mix something wrong together.
Only the highpower MW ! site 'shall'[is planned] to move away - sometime -
if at all, 90 kilometers north-west outside of Rome suburbs in new rural
area !!
New MW location was registered and coordinated in the ITU Geneva MW list
in 2004 ...
Prato Smeraldo SW site is still in use, and waits future plans of the RAI
Rome management and Government authorities.
