CYPRUS 13640 UNIDENTIFIED.
Maybe someone believed I was joking yesterday with that tape loop of VT
Communications on 13640 at 2200. First there was an open carrier, followed
by an ID by WHRI and what now sound is the test tape.

I was ready and waiting on 13640 from 2157 UT May 20: none of this, so no
test on a Saturday? I did, however, hear Japanese weakly, as above.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the WHRI/Merlin tests we have been
hearing on 13640 at 2200? Not, it's just CRI as scheduled in Japanese 22-
24 per EiBi. I wish people would look up listings in EiBi, HFCC, etc.,
before concluding something is unID. Of course, it's always best to get an
ID by listening, but many of these can be 99.9% identified by checking
listings.

I think the then WSHB already ran txions for the then Merlin
Communications some years ago, and if memory serves right the tx site
showed up in their schedules as "Furman". So this would be not really new,
but of course still the question about the potential customer behind these
tests remains.

13640 again; 13770.
Not at all; we just didn't tune in quickly enough. Today I got to 13640 in
time to hear Merlin mx at 2214, and it went off at 2215. Not very strong
here. Surprising that it's WHRI. Did they give those calls or just World
Harvest Radio which could have been one of their other stations? Worth
continued checking to hear what develop.
Let's also be on 13770 from before 0000 UT to see if there are any clews
about Brother Stair's site. I kind of suspect Sackville, but hope it can't
be true.

333, May 19, Two YLs with ongoing comments. NO ID was heard.

13640 CRI Japanese via Jinhua, 500 kW, 59degr, daily 2200-2357 UT.
13640 2200-2215 is coming from VT-Merlin Cyprus site. Usually BBC Arabic
uses Cyprus at 280 degr antenna towards TUN, ALG, MRC, but I guess now
also far westerly towards LatinAmerica ?
280deg +0 offset, 295 degr +15 offset.
GEOCKWIN shows 280 deg to VEN, CLM, EQA target.
295 deg to CUB, JMC, NCG target.

Please check whether VT Merlin is still testing 13640 at 2200-2215. I
