target area so that, courtesy of computers and the internet, he can log in
to hear how RNZI's analogue and digital broadcasts are being heard. At the
recent DX league AGM we talked of a future time, when city-based DXers
will be equipped with such a set-up, so that they can remotely DX from
quiet country locations.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA Still no sign of them on 4890 kHz at 0845 UTC 15
December. Could it be due to outstanding electricty bills, like those that
cause regional stations grief at times?
NBC Port Moresby on 9675/4890 remains non-operational, as it has for
several weeks.
PORTUGAL Maybe, just maybe the MCR group finally switches on the new
Avanca site for 783 kHz early next month when major stn changes are being
announced. Meanwhile, the bl... Belmonte site 1035 kHz is on an on-&-off
basis, and I'm prettly sure it's not at full (100 kW) power. Both Thales
txs in Belmonte & Avanca are twins.
Strange item ! According to RRI German letterbox today Dec 17:
RRI German at 1200-1300 UT suffered by severe echo on 11940 kHz in past
weeks. Many complaints by the German language listener audience occured
then. The technical editor Alexandrescu discovered the cause, that both
outlets used 11940 kHz via Galbeni EaROM and Tiganesti SoROM sites, and
never synchronicized the audio !! see WRTH page 465.
One tx site moved to 11790 kHz now.
RRI Italian noted on 7170 kHz at 1630-1700 today Dec 17. [x7135??]
