9660 Polish 2200-2300 UT - suffer a bit of signal strength. Distance is
about 8500-9000 kilometres to GER/POL.
GABON I've also noted the buzz on 4777 past few days between 1600-1700
when R Gabon is on. So there is a possibility that R Gabon 4777 is
transmitted via ANO facilities. I don't know if the buzz is generated by
transmitter or if it is an audio feed circuit problem. In the latter case
both ANO and R Gabon may be using same feed circuit/master control to feed
their transmitters.
Couple of months ago, when R Gabon appeared on 4777, I checked the 1700
sign-off times of 4777 and 15475. ANO 15475 used to turn off the
transmitter just prior 1700 for a while and return then with weaker
signal. Maybe antenna change. Interesting was that R Gabon 4777always was
turned off at almost the same time as 15475 (few seconds apart). Some
years ago R Gabon was listed using ANO transmitter on 4777. I wonder if
the situation is same again.
GERMANY Juelich at night. See these pictures, especially the first one
What a pity that I never drove by Nauen at night when the old curtains
still existed. It must have been a stunning view, too.
Just on Monday I was once again on business at Hoyerswerda, and it so
happened that it already started to get dark when I completed a late
lunch. So I got to see the new FM tower at night, see the picture I made
in a hurry and just put into the DXLD yg since the Cottbus studio with the
associated Hoyerswerda transmitter are covered there anyway.
GERMANY [and non] AWR to take German off shortwave.
AWR will cancel its German shortwave transmission on May 25, see the
enclosed posting from Rudolf Sonntag. At present it's 1600-1630 via
Moosbrunn on 6015, and in fact this is a fragment of a round-the-clock
satellite program now, just like TWR German on shortwave which to my
knowledge is merely a relay of Evangeliums-Rundfunk as heard on satellite,
also available via our local cable net here because some interested people
put continuous pressure on the mom & pop company running the system. Not
that any of these gentlemen would be interested in shortwave or 1539
reception, I guess they not even know that such things exist at all.
Noteworthy also this statement in a FAQ on the AWR German website, tho
they would certainly no longer put it up there anymore, since they have
apparently done with shortwave now:
"Is it worth to purchase a shortwave radio? Yes, if reception via
satellite, Internet or cable will be not possible for you in the short or
medium term. Beyond that it is impossible at present to say anything about
further developments and changes in the field of classical shortwave
