[Croatia non] Croatian Radio [via DTK Deutsche Telekom T-systems], at
0205, May 28, on 9925, man with news in English on Serbia-Montenegro,
Bosnia, etc. Some slight echo.
Echo has been horrendous recently so as to render this broadcast unusable
for me. SINPO 45444.
In the HFCC A06 list, I see only[sic] Nauen listed on 9925 at this hour.
Is there a Deutsche Telecom website that might have additional info?
(ibid.)
Two WER separate txs of 125 kW each, and a separate 100kW outlet from
Nauen site, so maybe double/multipath reception occurs now and then ...
So, the southerly SouthAmerica path on 240degr would be delayed, when the
signal 'travels' around the earth... please check the 0400-0500 UT portion
also, on 9470WER and and against 9925NAU kHz ... (wb.)
9925 2200-0300 11-16 240 WER 125 HRT
9925 2300-0300 6-10 300 WER 125 HRT
13820 0600-1000 58,59,60 270 JUL 100 HRT
The HFCC list shows powers of 125kW (WER has 500kW senders only?) on 9925
so seemingly there is a reduction in power. Also two azimuths are in use -
240 degrees and 300 degrees - obviously south of west and north of west to
cover two service areas. I have no idea how this is done - whether the
transmitters are "coupled" or operate independently - but is it likely,
despite "power surges", that one of the transmitters would be fed with a
delayed feed in these circumstances as an 'echo' would be an obvious
consequence of doing so? Or does DTK not realise that SW transmissions
cover areas other than those intended? I suggest that Jerry's echo is
being caused by some form of dual path propagation, but what that path
might be I can only guess. It would be interesting to know for certain.
An 'echo' more usually occurs when two sites are in use on just one
frequency. A very good example of this currently at my location is the BBC
Arabic service on 11680 at 0600-0900 from RMP at 168deg and via CYP 0600-
