Very strong signal from EMR on 6045 kHz now (1200 UTC Sunday). I presume
this is being relayed via T-Systems in Germany.
(Dave)
EMR This Sunday - 17th of September.
Shortwave Broadcast on 6045 kHz at 1200-1300 UTC + Internet stream
Internet Repeats at: 1500-1600, 1800-1900, 2100-2200 UTC
The original European Music Radio began in 1976 broadcasting from
clandestine, mobile txs on various freqs on the 48 metre Short-Wave band.
Typical tx power was just 10 watts, but despite the low power, EMR's
signal was received over most of Western Europe and Scandinavia.
Today EMR is a legal international broadcast station, renting airtime on
relay txs with considerably higher power and can be heard throughout the
world. Most recently EMR has been heard via the T-Systems transmitter in
Juelich, Germany on 6045khz. EMR also hires airtime from the Latvian State
broadcaster (LVRTC) on 9290khz. EMR also has a 24-hour Internet sce.
Wertachtal txs in Deutscher Bundestag paper Just discovered that the
referenced document also covers the matter of SW txions to North America:
"The cost-benefit analysis for German-speaking listeners in the USA no
longer works out due to the dramatically decreased importance of analogue
SW in this target area. Hence it will be switched off for the German-
language program of DW radio still in 2006."
Well, it seems they will not pull the plug altogether for now, but cut it
back to a few hours for the East Coast only in B06:
1000-1200 via Sackville on 6040
0000-0200 via Sines on 9545 and via Kigali on 9655, that's all that will
be left to NAm. And it appears that DW will no longer use Bonaire at all.
And here is a huge collection of Nauen pictures:

Current equipment as well as old txs on display (50 kW broadcasting, 20 kW
and 5 kW utility).
(Kai Ludwig-D, dxld Sept 3)
Actually more than enough photos from Nauen can be found at

But since I promised pictures from last Sunday I just uploaded six ones to
the yg. Some explanations:
50 kW tx first broadcasting tx at Nauen; it appears that the site was
never used for broadcasting in the pre-1945 era.
Control room: The widely published view, this time with a coverage map of
9545 above the beamer chart, projected to give explanations to visitors.
The audio peak level meter for tx 2 of course shows no stereo signal,
instead it measures to the left the input into the tx and to the right the
output of the mod monitor. The same goes for tx 5, but there is no input
