politics, cabinet minister's resignation. Fascinating spontaneous show
full of local color. Excellent.
TURKEY Cakirlar site includes also Etimesgut LW Ankara II on 198 kHz.
I wonder if Cakirlar site includes also Etimesgut 198 kHz (attached) ?
(Mauno Ritola-FIN, wwdxc BC-DX July 8)
Mauno asked me these days whether I did found the LW lattice/pipe mast
tower too ?
Etimesgut 198 kHz is at 39N59 32E40, [39N58.43 32E40.45] 22 kilometers
north of Ankara centre ,
I guess on top of the site(northern) a removable SW antenna like ALLISS is
seen. Or is this a similar SW tower, and rebuilt/converted a BBC Thomcast
Mannheim type tower into a longwave T-antenna ? The tower is some 55
meters high. Seems and 88 meters wide on the top of the antenna.
And what type of antenna is seen on the left side ? Five single
lattice/pipe masts ? Single MW low powers, or even single SW dipol masts?
(wb, wwdxc BC-DX July 13)
UNID 5050 kHz. 7/17/06 from about 0910-0950 something barely coming thru
here. Peaked at 0937-0939 w/nice choral mx, almost Polynesian-sounding.
Both Chinese stns. and AIR-Aizawl not sked at this time, and wrong time of
day for RTD-Tanzania. Might be kind of off the wall, but could this be
ARDS-Humpty Doo, running only listed 400-watts?
RRI-Serui puts in a decent signal almost every day on 4605 kHz. w/listed
1-kW., though when I got nice QSL-ltr. about 20-yrs. ago from Stn. Mgr.
Peter Silubun including small picture of him I believe was only 250 or 500
watts. And RRI-Sorong was putting in very nice signal 0928-0931 w/OM
reading Koran on 4870.9. Was in the clear at this time, as usual het from
pres. RRI-Wamena went off about 0900. And this het which comes in every
day and can be tuned down in LSB to 4869.9, if indeed is RRI-Wamena, I
believe this xmtr.was listed as 300-watts.
