The Daily NK). July 10, 2006.
(RNW MN NL via Paul Graveline-MA, BADX)
URL is and there is an English option. Under
"Broadcasting Information" their time is shown as 0000-0100 Korean time,
1500-1600 UTC, 5880 kHz. July 16-17 is apparently a special b/c, no
mention of it on the website. Gives postal address of: Tae Keung Ha, Exec.
Director, Open Radio for North Korea, 3901 Fair Ridge Dr., Fairfax, VA
22033, USA.
Presumably different from the "Freedom North Korea Broadcast"
although on the website that one also shows 5880
(which has apparently changed).
9485 Shiokaze (Sea Breeze) *1300-1330* heard the same date (July 12th)
with opening ID as 'This is Skiokaze, from Tokyo, Japan. Skiokaze means
Sea Breeze. This is a Radio program broadcasting Japanese Private
Organization Comjan, with the support from many People' Give schedule and
freqs, with program called "News Flash" , "Special Story" and "Editorial
Study" Gave web site:
and e-mail address: choshjai @... ( which was
the best I could tell on the phonetics, the announcer kept saying dot
..dot after each segment of letters)
Signal was strong, a solid s7 or better. There was some very slight
interference from unidentified station (which could be CRI underneath with
time notes 3+1 at 1300 with unidentified Language) but other wise a good
copy at this time period.
(Ed Kusalik-Alb-CAN, DXplorer July 13)
Your reception of Shiokaze (or is it Skiokaze?), on 9485 sounds about as
good as I had on their former 9855, but their new freq is not as good for
me. So far the jamming has not found them.
At their website
they list their
e-mail address as:
Have sent off several e-mails to them, in English, but no response so far.
9485 Shiokaze (via Taiwan?) *1300-1330* July 14. Piano theme started up at
1300:28, followed by ID, sked, and 3-minute opening anmt; into the list of
names at 1305; closing anmt at 1323, followed by 4 mins of piano mx to end
xmsn; carrier cut at 1330:28, exactly 30 mins after opening. Today's
program was all in JP; excellent signal, 10 dB over S-9 on the meter.
(John Wilkins-CO-USA, DXplorer July 14)
I listened to Little Saigon Radio on 7380 kHz from 1500 (Sign on) - 1530
(Sign off) UTC on June 2, 2006. Talk in Vietnamese and mx. ID at 15:00.
SINPO-32432. QRM: Unknown station on 7375 kHz.
(Yasuhiro Shiozaki-JPN, JPNpremium July 14)
SHIOKAZE heard on 9485 in English for the first time at 1300 to 1330 on 16
July. I have heard it a number of times in Japanese, but never in English
or Korean, on 9855 & 9485 with signal strength usually fair to good. After
id, freq schedule, and info about Shiokaze, the man read a list of
abductees: Mr. or Mrs., family name, and birth year. This was done in
chronological order from 1935 to 1983. At least 3 times he announced, "The
following number is the birth year." All this with slow piano mx in the
background.
(Wendel Craighead-KS-USA, DXplorer July 18)
And today, 17 July, I received from SHIOKAZE a full-data [except site]
