Seemingly TDA means RTA Algiers? Rampisham 500 kW 190 degrees. Woofferton 300 kW 160 degrees. The latter outlet is heard much stronger here in southwestern Germany. Rampisham signals are mostly fluttery. (wb, wwdxc BC-DX June 13) [Unidentified] For a week now I have been hearing a station on 9710 from 2100 to 2300 UT in Arabic (presumed) with what seems like frequent calls to prayer, especially during the first twenty mins or so. Thought it might be Saudi Arabia but not // to any of its freqs. Opens with short national anthem (presumed). A strong signal most of the time. (Bernie O'Shea-Ont-CAN, dxld June 12) 9710 also had that Merlin test heard a few days ago until 2300; perhaps related. (gh, DXLD) 9765 / 11810 / 12025 UNID Arabic station (2) recording Mauno from Finland told me something about short call ENRS bc organization from Algeria. No further more details arrived yet. UNID Arabic station. Seems to be ENRS Koran programme, just IDed at 2201. (Mauno Ritola-FIN, wwdxc BC-DX June 14) That means ENRS, Radio Algeria 3, Rue De L'oasis Hydra Algiers Algeria ENRS bc organization from Algeria, see WRTH entry on page 100: Entreprise Nationale de Radiodiffusion Sonore. I heard all txions loud and clear in southern Germany, mostly 55555 from Woofferton, but only fair and fluttery from Rampisham and slight echo too, but this is the usual prop path from RMP to Stuttgart for their North African azimuth txions. Heard the ENRS sce also this morning twice, both outlets strong here in Stuttgart, but 7260 suffered by 7265 kHz QRM of IBB Biblis. 9540 was much better choice at 0400-0600 UT. I believe they were supposed to be back via Merlin a few months ago, then via France, now apparently Merlin again, correct? First test on ISS-France in mid Jan, then Merlin around Feb 1st, and then again ISS-F in mid Febr, now via Merlin U.K. in June again. (wb, wwdxc BC-DX June 14) These are domestic svc relays, correct? I guess this is a domestic Quran program relay. ID's like "Huna El Djazair" followed approx 30 seconds later by "Idha'atu Quran al-Kareem" [Holy Koran Radio]. RTA Algiers heard signing-on 11810 kHz at 1900. Started with national anthem, then "Huna El Djazair" followed approx 30 seconds later by "Idha'atu Quran al-Kareem" [Holy Koran Radio]. Reception was good on 11810 kHz, poor on // 9765 kHz. (Dave Kernick-UK, hcdx June 14) Heard last night around 2115-2135 with fair reception here on both 7150 and 9710. The ID "idaat al koran al-karim" was mentioned at 2130. (Dave Kenny-UK, wwdxc BC-DX June 15) Your guess about TDA sounds a very feasible one, and Algeria was supposed to start a sce on SW from A-06 wasn't it? There was a list of freqs issued but the ones now heard were not amongst them. Algeria was/is always one of the more "difficult" countries for me to hear an ID from - until I learned what to listen for >> Huna El Djazair or El Djazairia" is how it's written in the WRTH, but even so, it can be spoken quickly and indistinctly. I must try to remember to listen tonight before the football starts! (later) The ID on the recording is what I wrote to you - "Huna El Djazair" and that is the Algerian NA. And the programme is announced as "Koran ... Kareem" or something like that. Thanks for this - and I thought it was a very good recording despite what you write about messing it up! So Mauno is correct - and his knowledge of Arabic is obviously improving, hi! I'll try myself this evening but I don't think I'll hear such strong signals here - RMP and WOF are both off the back of the beam to me. (Noel R.
