5920 kHz 1900-1930 UTC (to replace 6225 kHz Italian program)
5910 kHz 2030-2200 UTC (to replace 6205 kHz Albanian program)
Attached please find co/adjacent channels +/-10kHz from 5920 and 6130 kHz
to identify possible interferences at that time.
Your reception reports would be highly appreciated.
Many thanks and all the best from hot Tirana,
(Drita Cico, ARTV-Head of Monitoring Center, Radio Tirana, July 28)
At 1800-1815 UTC freq 5920 was clear channel. There were two weak stations
using 5915 - one was in Arabic and will almost certainly have been Israel.
The other might have been Zambia which I have seen reported from time to
time, but I found it impossible to identify for sure. Neither should cause
harmful interference.
Frequency 5925 was also clear ... Czech Radio was using 5930 but should
not cause a problem. So ... go ahead with Serbian.
At 1900-1930 UTC Frequency 5920 was clear channel The same two signals
were still audible on 5915 and slightly stronger. But I don't think they
will cause harmful interference to Tirana in the target area.
Frequency 5925 had a Family Radio txion in Swahili from Meyerton (South
Africa). This was only fair strength and should not cause harmful
interference in the target area.......Czech Radio continued on 5930 as
previously. So ... go ahead with Italian.
However, I did note that several other 49mb freqs were available at 2130
and so I will need to check them throughout (2030-2200 UTC) tonight.
(Noel R. Green-UK, wwdxc BC-DX Aug 3)
5910/5920 Yes, I was listening to the new freqs last night.
My reception seems to have been very much the same as Wolfgangs' - that's
based on his fine recordings. I could tell that he was using a wide
bandwidth but still he couldn't find any interference! [ hi! Wolfy]. But
conditions were not good last night and when they improve there might be
traces of adjacent stations, but I think the Shijak signals should be
strong enough to counter this. Drita - as perhaps you heard on the
recordings, the audio quality is awful. It sounds like an old acoustic
gramophone. And when this is affected by the selective fading we had last
night then distortion is dreadful.
Serbian at 1800 UTC on 5920 kHz - signal strength was peaking to 9 on my
meter but with much fading. In SINPO I estimate a signal of 3+5533 ... The
overall rating of three being due to fading and distortion.
Italian 1903 UTC on 5920 kHz - signal strength was now 10dB over 9
throughout and I estimate SINPO 45533 - again affected by fading and
distortion.
Albanian 2030 UTC on 5910 kHz - signal strength still 10dB over 9 and
SINPO estimated at 45533 - audio was late in 'arriving' after txion had
started ... at 2110 the signal had improved to 20dB over 9 and estimated
at SINPO 55533+ and it continued like this past 2140 UTC.
There was no interference at all to any of the txions so it remains to be
seen what occurs as the season progresses. I could hear such as Radio
Netherlands via MDG in English 1900-2057 on 5905, ISR 5915 in Arabic and
5925 Family Radio via MDG 1900-2000 but all were less strong than when
previously monitored due to the days propagation conditions. Holland (FLV
Flevo) on 5930 from 2100 UTC was again very strong and I think would have
splashed 5920 had that been used for Albanian 2030.
