and two SW (short wave or R7) xmtrs in Bukit Kayu Malam (Sarikei) and
Bukit Sengalang (Sibu) for the radio broadcast." "Similarly, there will be
three TV xmtrs for better TV1 and TV2 xmsn reception in Mukah, Bukit
Sengalang and Song in the Kapit division." The xmtrs were currently being
installed, Awang Tengah, who is also the minister in charge of the
Information Ministry in the state, said at the Sibu RTM Quality Day Awards
presentation here last night.
Earlier, in his speech, he said RTM, as the official agency to disseminate
news, information and entertainment prgms, would continue to play a
relevant and important role.
MEXICO 9600, R. UNAM, they were conducting some tests on Dec 3-4 and
have been working on the antenna and other equip. Ing. Eusebio Mejia,
technician in charge at R. UNAM would welcome rpts, tho they have no QSL
policy right now. E-mail to with a copy
They planned to test at 1400-2000 UTC, Tue-Thu, Dec 5-7. (Julian Santiago
Diez de Bonilla-Mexico, Conexion Digital) 1445 Dec 5, weak het or tone,
much like yesterday at 1957, but the het went off at 1500. Then I tried to
measure the remaining weak carrier. It was close to 9599, and registered
S9+10 on my generous FRG-7 meter, but much less than neighboring signals
from Australia-9590, Canada-9610, despite being attenuated by solar flare
a few hours earlier. This was on the FRG-7 with E-W longwire, so not
favoring this signal from the south. At 1610 I tried measuring the fqy
again, and it seemed closer to 9599.4. To do this I used the DX-398 with a
few meters of wire inside, barely producing a signal. Never any modulation
detectable.
If there were, it would be too weak to listen to. I am glad XEYU has the
xmtr going again, and hope they will be able to improve the signal and
allow us to hear R. UNAM prgmng on SW. Dec 6 at tune-in 1440, 9599 now
with modulation in SP, unlike the day before. Still weak and hard to copy,
but seemed to be talking about Mexican politics; 1455 to classical mx;
1459 a couple IDs sounded like R. Universidad Nacional rather than Radio
UNAM. There was a het until 1500 from something on 9600.0, and at 1517
back in classical mx, XEYU measured like yesterday on 9599.4 or so. Also
unlike the day before, after 1500 there was splash from a CH-speaking stn
on 9605; from phony enthusiasm of ancrs (commercials?) I suspect it is
CNR-1; must be something new, as I don't find it listed anywhere.
The XEYU xmtr is presumably the last XERMX unit which was semi-functional
on 9705v before R. Mexico Intl was abolished, and it was donated to UNAM.
Hard to believe it is running as much as rated 10 kw.
