Russians (Warsaw Treaty Pact troops) during occupation of CSSR in August<br />

1968 til springtime 1969.<br />

TX replaced on 20 June 2001 by new 250 kW (2x125 kW) Telefunken unit,<br />

fully transistorized.<br />

Reserve unit, 20 kW, inaugurated on 29 Sept 1959. Latter replaced by 20 kW<br />

transistorized unit of Thomcast on 5 Dec 1998.<br />

"Auf der Birkenhainer Hoehe ist der Funkturm nicht zu uebersehen. Der<br />

153m hohe Antennenmast des Senders Dresden in Wilsdruff ist ein weithin<br />

sichtbares Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Dieser wurde am 1. Sept. 1953 in Betrieb<br />

genommen und strahlte bis Ende 1989 die Programme DDR I und Berliner<br />

Rundfunk ab, nach der Wende die Programme des Mitteldeutschen Rundfunks.<br />

Der Sender ist einer der aeltesten Mittelwellensender Europas und sowohl<br />

von der Bausubstanz seiner Anlagen als auch durch seine technische<br />

Ausstattung ein voll funktionsfaehiges technisches Denkmal. Heute erfolgt<br />

die Ausstrahlung durch eine moderne und raeumlich wesentlich kleinere<br />

Sendeanlage im selben Gelaende."<br />

via Germany, and not yet jammed; jamming was still attacking ex-7160 as it<br />

did thruout the weekend when it was never on the air anyway.<br />

Radio Republica. 5910 kHz, Nauen, Germany. SINPO 44333, 0141-0233+ UT in<br />

Sp. M. and W. with 3 or 4 min. talks, song on 'libertad' (topic of talks),<br />

more talk. ID sequence with slogans, etc. 'piano' ID at 0200 including<br />

mention of WRMI. Talk by 2 W. over dance mx w/ call in, 2 M. talking. ID<br />

at 0230. Back to same 2 M.<br />

Signal in the clear. An occasional digital signal on USB was the main<br />

interference. Looks like the Cuban jammers haven't found it yet that I<br />

could hear.<br />
