"i") txs for years. In both cases the noise varies slowly in level, at
times almost disappears and then comes back again. Most significant
difference is that the singing of the Taldom tx appears to peak at 600
Hertz. Sounds like oscillation, as if there would be some kind of
feedback.
Perhaps somebody can forward this to Taldom? I would suggest to listen to
the final output through a decent, studio-grade monitor, since it's a bit
subtle, on the level of audio engineering, so to speak.
(Kai Ludwig-D, wwdxc BC-DX Apr 11)
Yes, Taldom is still singing to us [yes, singing on all R Rossii
frequencies - seems the very same tx unit at Taldom site, wb.] - it is
more obvious to me on 12070 than on less strong 13665. What I refered to
in my last might have been a similar singing tx via the Ukraine and not
Russia. And re "I would suggest to listen to the final output through a
what you hear I guess!
Radio Rossii Taldom, to zones 27,28,37 via MSK 250kW 270deg RUS RRS GFC
12070 0400-0800 UT
13665 0825-1500 UT
7420 1525-2100 UT
I just gave 7420 a listen, and the ringing of the Taldom tx is really bad
and very disturbing. This is caused by a problem in the tx, not by some
kind of interference or internal signals in the receiver (NRD-535).
In 1993 one of the txs, RV-355, had this ringing on all the freqs it used
at that time, including a morning half our leased by AWR.
I do not know if this is the same tx that is still ringing. Anyhow, RV-355
was rated at 250 kW in 1993 and was one of several at that power level at
the Taldom site.
In recent yeas this ringing has been following Radio Rossi via Taldom on
many freqs.
(Olle Alm-SWE, wwdxc BC-DX Apr 11)
The ringing noise is there all the time on the carrier, whether or not the
audio is connected. I do not know how the 250 kW units are structured, but
if they consist of two halves, then there may be a phasing problem in the
combiner or generally between the two halves, just as some 100 kW Sneg
units created similar noise when they were combined (Kharkiv, Krasnodar,
Yekaterinburg).
Since yesterday Sound of Hope is back on 17330. All Wednesday they ran
open carrier only, and the jammer got a day off. Today I heard Chinese
briefly in one of the monitoring pauses.
