5049.93, ARDS: Was surprised to get a quick reply from Dale Chesson, Radio
Service Mgr, Nhulunbuy Language & Media Centre. Says they're using 400
watts full AM into a wire dipole fed by a balun, a quarter wave above
ground. Also says they'll be upgrading to a 1 kw. LPB Omni xmtr. So it
should be a little easier to hear when they get the new xmtr on line. Dale
went on to say that their prgms can be hrd at
Re DXLD 6-128, RA 13670 colliding with RFA and Chinese jamming: Ask Bernd
Friedewald, the RA ABC registration manager. 13670 has an IBB Tinian
registration entry for many seasons. RA was NOT on 13670 in A05 season!
(wb, dxld Aug 25)
WB attaches jpg maps from Geoclock of the 303 degree beam from Tinian,
which crosses Taibei and then directly into central China, and the 353
degree beam from Shepparton aimed just west of Tokyo. The two intersect
somewhere NW of Tinian. Pace Andy, I concede I have no standing
whatsoever, far from either target area to complain about the collision
here. I can however, postulate that the collision is bound to be a problem
in the real targets, China, the western Pacific, and Japan or it would be
if 13670 were not a throwaway freq subject to Chicom jamming anyway.
Beyond the respective skip zones from Tinian (over water), and the Chinese
jammers, the collision is bound to be a severe interference problem for
RA, and it is still senseless for RA to subject itself to that. But then
its freq manager is far away in Europe.
