LATVIA Correction of BC-<strong>DX</strong> <strong>Top</strong><strong>News</strong> #763 issue:<br />

RNI Shortwave Update. Since 2002 various radio sces have been relayed via<br />

the SW facilities of the LRTVC at Ulbroka. These relays were arranged via<br />

a Latvian Company (KREBS TV).<br />

Please note that KREBS TV no longer holds a SW broadcasting licence in<br />

Latvia. In late 2005 the Latvian Broadcasting Council invited Tenders for<br />

the establishment of a full commercial SW broadcast radio station.<br />

On Friday 27th January 2005, the Latvian Broadcasting Council announced<br />

that RNI had been granted a FULL commercial SW broadcasting licence. The<br />

RNI broadcasting licence is NOT a temporary relay licence, as used by<br />

previous operator KREBS TV.<br />

RNI is now the ONLY officially sanctioned SW broadcast radio station in<br />

Latvia.<br />

As so often, releases from within the "anorak scene" should be read with a<br />

bit of salt. It is Raimonds Kreicbergs who is the exclusive license owner<br />

for the SW freq 9290 in Latvia. Not RNI, but Kreichbergs in person<br />

received this license. RNI is the idea of a relay sce project by Andrew<br />

Yates, who in earlier years was sub-renting SW airtime of Krebs TV under
