So Humpty Doo might not be out of the question, even here in ECNA. This
freq. might be worth watching around this time, especially WCNA. Has
anyone in North America actually logged this station, and does anyone out
there know what their sked is on this freq. and what langs(s) they
broadcast in? Thanx!
UNID 4994.13 Definitely someone here at 1028 w/tlk by M and W. Just too
weak and apparently went off shortly after t/in.
(Dave Valko-INS, DXplorer July 23)
UNID 4994.05 Found this on again w/what sounded like W anncr, mx bridge,
then M anncr at 1028, and then going off at 1029*. Coincidentally heard at
the exact same time as yesterday. Too weak to get any clues. What is
this?? Spur, image??
(Dave Valko-INS, DXplorer July 23)
UNID 5039.88 1025 sounded like canned anmnt by W. Much too weak but
definitely there. Thought this might be Libertad de Junin, but they've
been reported a little lower. Who then??
UAE Google Earth Imagery. The large SW site is located a short distance
west of Abu Dhabi at 24d 10' 11"N, 54d 15' 00"E (high resolution only at
the very northern tip of the site, but three curtain masts are clearly
visible there). Closer to Abu Dhabi at 24d 13' 45"N, 54d 24' 57"E is
another SW or MW (?) site (high resolution).
Probably 1170/1575 kHz, a new station called "Dhabbaya II" or something
like that in the newsletters of ex-Thales Broadcast (pictures of the site
are included there).
Ludo Maas should update his website now that he has the more detailed
satellite imagery information. The WRTH should also be ubdated accordingly
where necessary.
The weather here remains nice, although this past week we had some on-
shore flow of cool and cloudy marine air. Today is sunny and warm. I will
be mowing the lawn and watering some plants this weekend - part of my low-
dues health club!
