usual level S=4-5 at 1530 UT. Both well cover central European audience
during noon and afternoon. 9420 co-channel Lingshi-CHN is never an
interference problem here in EUR.
9420 kHz data: is targeted at 323 degr via Zurich Switzerland, U.K.,
northern Scotland, southern Iceland, southern tip of Greenland, into
Chicago - Great Lakes.
(... later) 323 degr towards NoAM:
I see only this azimuth on 7, 9, and 15 MHz channel registrations, but no
11/12 MHz channel from Avlis. Any 25 mb beam available there?
Macedonia special schedule 1100-1700 9935, 1700-2300 7450 at 323 degr,
latter noted S=9+ at 1800 UT.
Also ERA5 9420 kHz S=9 powerful, but 12105 kHz til 1855 UT very weak,
S=1-2.
From 1900 UT ERA5 on 7475 S=8-9, 9420 S=9 +30 dB.
Here in eastern Germany around 1515...1520 UT I found 12105 to be
considerably weaker than 9420, in fact unusable on a portable radio. At
the same time the third transmitter on 9935 (Thessaloniki program, must be
a political issue to keep it on shortwave I guess) was only a little bit
stronger than 12105. It would be interesting to see some antenna details
for all three frequencies.
(Kai Ludwig-D, wwdxc BC-DX May 14)
ERA-5 today from 1150 UT onwards on 15630 (not 12105 today) and 9420 kHz.
15630 seems 285 degr, 9420 usual 323 degrs, latter audio is much more
'piercing'.
Xanthi (rather than Kavala) site.
Now, after they closed it down, we got to know the actual location of the
tx plant called Kavala. I assume Xanthi refers to the administrative
division rather than the town, since this posting includes alongside some
technical details also a clear mention of a "seaside location":

So the site must be on the shore east of Kavala, hardly less than 40 km
away from this town, cf.

The mediumwave txs at both Kavala and Rhodes must be rather recent
investments, at Kavala replacing the original one from the seventies,
since the Harris DX-600 is a solid-state model, introduced not before
1991. For more about the DX tx series see

Concerning the four ex-Gloria txs ERT must still have in the shelf: The
matter of the antennas must be taken into consideration as well, since we
are speaking about items for up to a million Euros (a realistic figure for
a big 4/4 curtain I think) here.
Otherwhise I can only say that the machine translations of the statements
from Greece are in fact sufficient.
(Kai Ludwig-D, dxld May 14)
I recall Kim Elliott mentioning a new Harris 600 kW MW tx for Rhodes in
