Here, by looking at this image, we can observe that
there’s the usage of “hard lights” on aspects “1 and 2”. On the
other hand, on “3” a “soft light” is normally used. Still regarding
image, we can see that when lightning an object/person it
demands three basic light-sources. It is also called: “three
point lightning” (Millerson, 1999:215). According to Zettl, the
“Key Light” is the principal light source. It reveals the basic
shape of the object. The “Back Light” outlines the subject
against the background giving it form. To slow down the “Fall
off”, caused by the usage of these two hard lights, we can see
that the “Fill light” has the basic objective of rendering
(smoothing) the shadows (Id., 2000:161-163).
As an end-note, we can conclude that traditionally:
“techniques of lighting tell us what tools to use and how we
can obtain the desired effect” (Id., 2000:158).
