Gaschromatographische Messung organischer Nitrate in der
Troposphäre durch Kopplung von Massenspektrometer und
Chemolumineszenzdetektor — •Robert Wegener, Djuro Mihelcic
HOx−Produktionsrate.
We present first results of ship borne multi axis (MAX-) DOAS measurements
of NO2, performed on board of the Polarstern research vessel
on a cruise from Bremerhaven to Antarctica between October 2002 and
February 2003. The MAX-DOAS technique allows to separate tropospheric
from stratospheric trace gas column giving the ability to determine
the abundance of NO2 in the mid-latitudinal, tropical and polar
marine troposphere. Furthermore we compare our measurements with
observations performed on a similar cruise in 2001/2002.
Retrieval of a NO2 altitude profile by using MAX-DOASmeasurement
— •Roman Sinreich, Barbara Dix, Chistoph v.
¿From May through September 2003 Multi-Axis(MAX)-DOAS-
Measurements using scattered sunlight have been performed at the Institute
of Environmental Physics in Heidelberg (Germany, 49.25 ◦ N, 8.42 ◦
E) to determine local NO2 and O4 slant column densities. The instrument
was mainly pointing westward in direction of the city of Mannheim, since
this region is expected to contain the highest concentrations of NO2 due
to the high traffic and industrial activity.
Several elevation angles were chosen to observe the atmosphere along
different viewing directions. Air mass factors for several aerosol scenarios
were modelled using the radiative transfer model Tracy. A detailed study
was performed exemplarily for a clear afternoon (14 th of July 2003) comparing
measurements of O4 and NO2 with corresponding model results
to find the best matching profile both for aerosols and NO2-values.
Due to the combination of MAX–DOAS measurements with the radiative
transfer model the quantitative estimation of the total mixing ratio
of trace gases is now possible opening a wide worldwide field for this
technique in future.
Results of an Indoor DOAS-Tomography Validation Experiment:
On the Ability to Reconstruct 2D-Trace Gas Concentration
distributions from Simultaneous Longpath- DOAS Measurements
DOAS-Tomography combines DOAS measurements yielding average
concentrations along long light paths and tomographic methods to retrieve
the spatial concentration distribution. To validate its techniques
an indoor experiment was performed in August 2003 under well defined
conditions. Cylinders filled with NO2 were used to assess the possibility to
reconstruct local 2D-distributions using up to about 40 light paths. Here
we present first reconstruction results and compare them to simulations
using different measures to quantify the quality of the reconstruction.
Sensitivity to measurement errors and to the number of light paths are
discussed.
First results of an indoor DOAS tomography validation campaign
using Multibeam Long Path Systems — •Kai-Uwe Mettendorf,
Andreas Hartl, Christian Kunz, Ulrich Platt, and
Irene Pundt — Institut für Umweltphysik; Universität Heidelberg
For tomographic DOAS (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy)
measurements simultaneous measurements along different
light paths are needed to discern spatial concentration fields from their
temporal variations. Here we present a new Longpath DOAS system
called Multibeam DOAS (MB-DOAS), which allows the simultaneous
measurement along up to six different light paths. In addition, results
from an indoor-DOAS-tomography validation campaign using three of
these instruments are shown.
The MB-DOAS consists of a Newton telescope for the transmission and
collection of the light beams. The received light of the beams is coupled
into different fibers which direct the light to a spectrograph connected
with a CCD detector. In order to change the angle between the different
light beams mirrors are mounted in front of the telescope. To test
the suitability of this instrument for tomographic DOAS measurements
a validation campaign was performed in August 2003
