Investigation of dynamic behavior(s) is the only way to know the transformation
as well as conformational mechanism of a chemical reaction,
and then to manipulate its route(s) and mechanism(s). The new challenging
trend to investigate biomolecular reaction dynamics comparing
with the traditional simple atomic and molecular reaction dynamics (3
˜4 atomic system) is much more complicated and difficult as thought.
The recently developed experimental method of FRET (Fluorescence
MS 8 Cluster
Resonance Energy Transfer) or spFRET - NSOM (Near-field Scanning
Optical Microscopy, because of the difficult pronunciation it is often
called as SNOM), eventual combined with Optical Tweezer, combining
with MALDI (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization - Time of
Flight Mass spectroscopy) is quite full of promises. All of these investigations
must be limited within a small intra- or intermolecular interacting
region, as well as for a system of limited number of atoms of both
interacting functional groups or sites, whatever the results of simulation
can be also satisfied. Ref. V. W.-K. Wu, Verh. Dtsch. Phys. Ges.,
Erzeugung und Nachweis größenselektierter Molekülclusterionen
— •Muhammer Bulat, Ulf Bergmann,
Cluster size and charge dependence reactions of the highly
exothermic azidoacetonitrile on anionic and cationic rhodium
clusters — •Iulia Balteanu, O. Petru Balaj, Brigitte Fox,
Gas-phase reactions of anionic and cationic rhodium clusters with azidoacetonitrile
are studied by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance
(FT-ICR) mass spectrometry under near-thermal conditions. All anionic
and large cationic clusters react by adding [C2, H2] in consecutive steps,
either by forming interstitial carbides and nitrides or by adding two CN
groups to the cluster surface. Small cationic clusters behave differently,
with the unimolecular decomposition of the azide determining the reactivity.
Saturation is identified via the size-dependent efficiency of consecutive
reaction steps. The present results are the first study of organic
azides on transition metal clusters. The observed selectivity of the reaction
is in contrast to the high exothermicity of any reaction with azide
species. The cationic cluster reactivity shows a gradual transition from
gas-phase to surface-like behavior with increasing cluster size.
Addition of a Hydrogen Atom to Acetonitrile by Hydrated
Electron Nanodroplets — •O. Petru Balaj, Iulia Balteanu,
— Institut für Physikalische und Theoretische Chemie 2, Technische
Solvated electrons are the most fundamental model systems to study
electron transfer reactions, and they play an important role in radiation
chemistry and biology, as well as in organic and inorganic synthesis.
In the present study, we investigate the reactions of acetonitrile with
hydrated electrons (H2O) −
n , n = 25 - 60, in a Fourier transform ion
cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometer. More than 25 years
ago this reaction was observed by ESR spectroscopy in solution, but the
product was not identified.
Our studies indicate that reactivity studies of organic molecules in
hydrated electron nanodroplets can yield information complementary to
pulsed radiolysis studies in bulk solutions. In the cluster study, the product
compositions can be clearly identified by mass spectrometry, and in
the present case it could be shown that the hydrated electron does induce
a transfer of an H atom from water to acetonitrile. The formation of a
41
solvent-stabilized radical anion as reactive intermediate is suggested to
be a possible first step in the organic chemistry of the hydrated electron.
mittels laserinduzierte Photoelektronenanlagerung fragmentfrei analysiert
