elativistische Energien beschleunigt.
schwerer Kerne. Solche Elektronenjets eignen sich daher
hervorragend zur systematischen Untersuchung von Kernreaktionen.
source developed in collaboration with Max Born Institute of Berlin will
be illustrated.
Ti-Kα and Cu-Kα have been produced by focusing a femtosecond laser
pulse on a tape target; Ga-Kα by using a gallium jet. Copper, titanium
and gallium spectra were acquired by means of a cooled Si-diode ”AMP-
TEK” detector.
Estimation of X-ray photon flux and conversion of laser energy in Xray
energy is given. Average X-ray flux of the table top systems located
at MBI Berlin and FSU Jena are compared to Terawatt system.
starken chromatischen Fehler behaftet.
Dense plasma physics studied with XUV-FELs — •Annika
Krenz and Jürgen Meyer-ter-Vehn — Max-Planck-Institut für
Quantenoptik Garching
We report on the heating of solid matter with the XUV-FEL beams becoming
available at DESY in 2004/2005. They will provide 10 14 photons
per pulse of 20-200eV energy in 100fs pulses. These beams will generate
matter of extremely high energy density with temperatures up to 1keV
and pressures in the range of a few hundred Mbar. This corresponds to
states of matter found in stellar interiors. A wide range of the phase diagram
can be investigated by changing the beam focus and hence the
heating intensity. In addition to heating the scattered photons will yield
detailed information about the structure of the produced plasma.
The poster will show simulations performed with MULTIfs, a 1Dhydrodynamic
code. For laser frequencies close to the plasma frequency
the absorption in the target reaches a maximum. This is shown in terms
of the temperature and pressure evolution for an intensity of 10 16 W/cm 2
and a photon energy of 30eV. The thickness of the Al-target is 45nm.
Futhermore it is shown that the foil can be used as a femtosecond
switch. This is caused by the change of the plasma frequency during
heating which may turn an initially transparent foil into an opaque one.
Another point is that the plasma spot has defocusing properties. A fur-
98
ther unexpected effect is a spatial wave structure seen e.g. in the energy
deposited in the target. This structure will lead to ionization layers which
exist for a certain time.
Femtosecond laser induced breakdown in dielectric materials was intensively
studied in the last decade, due to the applications of this technique
in medicine and in high-quality micro- and nano- material processing of
transparent media. Even if it is generally accepted that the primary process
in the femtosecond laser ablation of transparent dielectrics is the
generation of high density free electrons by multiphoton absorption, the
mechanism of the energy transfer and the plasma dynamic below 20 ps
is not yet understood. In this work we investigate with high temporal
and spatial resolution the dynamics of the free electrons plasma produced
by ultrashort femtosecond pulses on the surface of dielectric liquids.
The plasma dynamics was resolved from the femtosecond up to the
nanosecond regime. Transient reflection spectroscopy provided us useful
information about the dynamics of the free electrons density, whereas
by time resolved imaging techniques we directly investigated the spatial
formation and evolution of the induced plasma. Taking into account the
spectral and spatial data we are able to reconstruct a three dimensional
image of the plasma dynamics with femtosecond resolution.
Pulse sequences generated with delay lines and spectral pulse modulation
techniques are often employed for coherent control experiments.
We investigate the role of delay and spectral phase modulation on a twophoton
transition in atomic sodium. The sodium D-line serves as the
observable. Popular phase modulations like polynomial, π-jump and sinusoidal
phase functions in combination with the delay of a pulse pair
were studied. The physical difference between delay and spectral group
delay modulation is discussed.
Phasenmodulierte
Femtosekunden-Laserpulse bieten die Möglichkeit komplexere Pulsformen
zu generieren. In diesem Experiment wird untersucht inwieweit
das AT-Doublet mittels eines intensiven phasenmodulierten Laserpulses
kontrolliert werden kann. Dazu werden die zeitaufgelösten Photoelektronenspektren
bei Verwendung von phasenmodulierten Laserpulsen
mit verschiedenen Phasenfunktionen untersucht. Darüberhinaus werden
mittels eines rückkopplungsgesteuerten Algorithmus einzelne Komponenten
des AT-Doublets optimiert. Insbesondere wird die selektive
Besetzung einzelner ”bekleideter” Zustände durch geeignete Pulsformen
demonstriert.
