Stabilisierung in hoch- und niedrigfrequenten Laserfeldern —
Freiburg, Hermann-Herder-Str. 3, 79104 Freiburg
Few-cycle laser pulses have attracted much attention. In this short
pulse regime, the so-called carrier-envelope (CE) phase, i.e., the phase
difference between the carrier wave and pulse envelope, has considerable
influence on strong-field phenomena, such as High Harmonic Generation
(HHG) and Above Threshold Ionization (ATI). We report here experimental
results on the influence of the CE phase on non-sequential double
ionization (NSDI) of atoms in few-cycle laser pulses. Combining state-ofthe-art
phase-stabilized few-cycle lasers with ion momentum spectrometer,
the momentum distribution of doubly charged argon ions is measured
at different CE phases with 5 fs laser pulses at center wavelength of 760
nm. Depending on the CE phase, a prominent asymmetry in the momentum
distribution of Ar 2+ along laser polarization is observed, which is
in strong contrast to the symmetry pattern observed in long pulses. It
indicates a CE phase sensitivity of NSDI in few-cycle pulses. The strong
dependence of the ion momentum distribution on the CE phase provides
a sensitive tool for CE phase diagnosis.
We investigated double ionization of the homonuclear diatomic
molecules N2 and O2 in high-intensity laser pulses by using coincident
electron-ion momentum spectroscopy. We employed 35 fs laser pulses
with central wavelength at 800 nm in the regime of light intensities where
non-sequential double ionization (NSDI) is expected. We observed a pro-
25
nounced difference in the momentum correlation of the photoelectrons
emitted after double ionization: O2 shows a maximum at zero momentum,
whereas N2 exhibits structures characteristic of rescattering - the
main atomic NSDI mechanism. To understand this difference we performed
a simplified qualitative model calculation based on a classical
analog of the S-matrix for double ionization by rescattering. It incorporates
classical rescattering and the quantum mechanical transition matrix
elements. The result indicates that the symmetry of the initial state wave
function, which is symmetric for N2 and asymmetric for O2, plays a decisive
role for the final electron momentum distribution, leading to the
present experimental results
HD + in an ionic beam in intense femtosecond laser fields — dissociation
and ionization — •Andreas Kiess, Domagoj Pavičić,
Theodor W. Hänsch, and Hartmut Figger — Max-Planck-Institut
für Quantenoptik, Hans-Kopfermannstr. 1, 85748 Garching
After having investigated the two homonuclear isotopomers H + 2 and
D + 2 , here we report on a study of the mixed heteronuclear ion HD +
in intense femtosecond laser fields. A fast (11 keV) and highly collimated
ion beam is exposed to focused laser pulses with a pulse duration
of 90 fs and intensities in the range of 10 13 to 10 15 W/cm 2 . The
resulting atomic (H, D) and ionic (H + , D + ) fragments were detected
on a position-sensitive multichannel plate detector, thereby measuring
their velocity distribution. In distinction to the photodissociation of H + 2
and D + 2 , HD + can photodissociate via two competing channels, namely
HD + −→ H+D + and HD + −→ D+H + . This means that the electron has
to make the choice in the dissociation process whether to join the proton
or the deuteron. This offers an opportunity to measure the breakdown of
the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. Besides the dissociation channels,
HD + can also undergo Coulomb explosion, HD + −→ H + + D + + e − . All
these channels can be separated in our experiment since the velocities of
the H/H + and D/D + fragments differ by a factor of 2 as a consequence of
momentum conservation. Furthermore, by electric deflection of the ionic
fragments, the neutral fragments can be observed alone. In distinction to
the homonuclear cases of H + 2 and D + 2 , the photodissociation of HD + is
characterized by three avoided potential curve crossings, corresponding
to absorption of one, two and three photons.
Methoden zur Untersuchung der nicht-sequentiellen Doppelionisation
