Media guides, game programs and game notes are published by the Sports Information Office to publicize the department’s athletic teams. Printing needs are prioritized, with budget requirements taken into consideration. All printed materials are designed, written and edited by Sports Information Office members and should be ready prior to the start of the season. Programs for home events are written and printed by the Sports Information Office. Formats for the programs are determined by the budget . QUESTIONNAIRES Every student-athlete must complete a general questionnaire for the Sports Information Office. This information is used to generate copy for media guides and other publications, and is placed in the student-athlete’s permanent file. MEDIA CREDENTIALS Media credentials for athletic events are provided through the Sports Information Office. Credentials are issued on a priority basis and are non-transferable. PHOTOGRAPHY The Sports Information Office is responsible for the department’s photography needs. Portraits are taken of all administrators, coaches and student-athletes for inclusion in the office’s archival files. WEB SITE The department’s site on the World Wide Web, www.uncwsports.com, is designed and maintained by the Sports Information Office. Questions pertaining to the site should be directed to the Sports Information Director. STATISTICS/RECORDS The Sports Information Office provides up-to-date and accurate statistical information on all athletic department teams. Archives are also kept in the office, with team and 122
individual records for each sport on file. GAME DAY OPERATIONS For men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball the Sports Information Office conducts full press operations, including the supervision of press row during basketball games and the press box in baseball. SUMMER SPORTS CAMP PROGRAMS AT UNCW Sport camps are encouraged by the Department of Athletics to help recruit future students to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and to help young people in their particular sport by sharing the knowledge and experience of UNCW athletic personnel. All summer camps held on the campus of UNCW are the responsibility of the respective Head Coach and are independently owned by the said coach as stated in a contract or Letter of Appointment as agreed upon by the Head Coach and the University.
