I Awards and Scholarships i
Athletic Award – an athletic grant-in-aid may be awarded to a prospective student-athlete or
a continuing student-athlete in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations.
Chancellor’s Cup – The Chancellor’s Cup is presented to a male and/or female studentathlete
who best represents UNCW in the classroom and in the athletic arena. The
recipient(s) must have a minimum 3.0 gpa and be a graduating student-athlete during the
term of its presentation. The Chancellor’s Cup is presented at the annual Athletic Awards
Banquet.
Thomas V. Moseley Outstanding Student-Athlete Award – This award is presented at the
annual Athletic Awards Banquet to one student-athlete who has achieved athletic excellence
and has brought local, regional, and/or national recognition to the university.
Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Award – This award, sponsored
by the CAA, is given annually to student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in both
the classroom and in the athletic arena. Recipients must have earned a varsity letter in their
respective CAA sponsored sport and must have achieved either an overall or current
academic year grade-point average of 3.2 or better.
Seahawk Award – This award is given annually by the Department of Athletics to studentathletes
who have earned a 3.0 or better grade-point average for the academic year.
Golden Seahawk Award – This award is given annually by the Department of Athletics to
student-athletes who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average for the academic year.
Team Leadership Award – This annual award is presented to the athletic team who has
demonstrated a commitment to leadership through community service projects, charitable
activities, and the promotion of the UNCW Department of Athletics. The award is presented
at the Athletic Awards Banquet.
Outstanding Student-Athlete Leadership Award – This award, sponsored by the Student-
Athlete Advisory Committee, is presented annually to a student-athlete for outstanding
leadership. The award is presented at the Athletic Awards Banquet.
Soaring Seahawk Award – This award is giving to one male and one female student-
