Throughout the year, the Athletic Training Department exercises a policy of open
communication with coaches and athletes in order to promote a healthy and safe
environment for student-athletes.

Out of Season Practice
Emergency Personnel
- Coaches, Managers
Emergency Communication
- Cell phone of Coach or Manager; landline located inside the nearest building; or
Campus Emergency Call Box located closest to the scene
Emergency Equipment
- Automatic External Defibrillator
Roles of First Responders
1) Immediate care of the injured or ill athlete
· Coach
2) Emergency Equipment Retrieval
· Coach or Manager
3) Activation of emergency medical system (EMS)
· Coach or Manager
o Call 911 to activate EMS, campus police will be notified through
the dispatch center
o Call team’s Certified/Licensed Athletic Trainer
4) Direction of EMS to scene
· Person placing 911 call will direct EMS to scene
Review and Evaluation of Emergency Action Plan
Annual review of this EAP is conducted with all athletic personnel so that each member
of the emergency care team is aware of their respective role in the event of an emergency.
This information is verbally communicated during athletic department staff meeting at
the beginning of each year. This is also communicated via email to all athletic
department personnel and student-athletes at the beginning of each school year.
Annual evaluation of the policies and procedures is conducted by the Director of Athletic
Training with the assistance of the Assistant Athletic Trainers. This evaluation takes the
form of ongoing discussion of day-to-day matters between the Director of Athletic
