Off-Campus Recruiting
Requests for funds for off campus recruiting shall be made to the Athletic
Business Office by the Head Coach or full-time assistants. These requests
must be made 48 hours prior to the date needed to allow for the processing
procedure. Pre-approval must be given by the Compliance Office.
All off-Campus recruiting is subject to the same policies and procedures
as professional or team travel.
On-Campus Recruiting
All recruiting visits MUST BE CLEARED with the Assistant Athletic
Director for Compliance and/or Deputy Athletic Director BEFORE any
arrangements can be made.
NCAA regulations permit the University to finance only one (1) official
campus visit for a prospective student-athlete. The Recruiting Coordinator,
or the Head Coach of the designated sport, in conjunction with the
Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, oversees the visit to ensure
adherence to applicable rules and regulations.
For the official expense paid visit, the Department confines prospective
student-athlete travel and entertainment to:
For trips to the campus at the prospective student-athlete's own expense,
benefits offered by the Department are limited to a maximum of three (3)
complimentary admissions to athletic events on campus. In addition, when
accompanied by a staff member, transportation may be provided to a
practice or competition site within a 30 mile radius of the campus.
• Payment for actual round-trip transportation, by direct route, between the
prospect's home and the campus; (The prospect may travel by personal
car and be paid mileage expenses at a rate of .30 cents per mile, not to
exceed lowest logical airfare, or travel tourist class by air.)
• Entertainment of the prospect, the prospect's parents, legal guardians or
spouse at a facility located on campus (including complimentary
admissions to athletic events); and
• Housing and meals for the prospect and his/her parents and spouse at a
scale that is comparable to normal student-life.
Additionally, the Department may provide a student host entertaining a
prospect a maximum of $30 per 24 hour period of recruiting, not to exceed
$60 to cover actual and necessary expenses.
