ii. Helps facilitate efforts of Athletic Department, parent’s office,
counseling services and campus Catastrophic Incident Stress
Management Team (for counseling of team, coaches, staff)
I. COUNSELING SERVICES
i. On Call 24 Hours Daily at 910-962-
ii. Activates Catastrophic Incident Stress Management Team to
provide immediate grief counseling to student-athletes,
coaches, and staff
iii. Provides any follow-up counseling post-incident to studentathletes,
coaches, or staff members
J. FACULTY ATHLETIC REPRESENTATIVE serves as faculty liaison
to campus for the Athletic Department
K. INSURANCE SPECIALIST communicates health insurance
procedure information as needed
V. CRIMINAL CIRCUMSTANCES (ACCIDENT, ASSAULT,
HOMICIDE, SUICIDE)
A. Notify Campus Police immediately of catastrophic incident involving
possible criminal activity
B. Notify Chief of Campus Police
C. Campus Police will communicate with Wilmington Police Department
D. Campus Police will communicate information as appropriate to CIMT
VI.
AWAY CONTESTS: COACHES, ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF
MEMBERS
A. Immediately notify Director of Athletics and Director of Athletic Training
of Catastrophic Incident
B. Work with local hospital, Sports Medicine Staff, Athletic Department, or
Police to assist in process and gather information to update the Director of
Athletics and/or Director of Athletic Training
C. The Head Coach and/or Administrator will remain on site after team
departs to coordinate communication and arrangements with University
Administration until relieved by a University Representative
