Hair:
• Must be kept to a minimum
• Should not interfere with duties
• NO body piercing jewelry is allowed to be worn other than standard
earrings
• Jewelry, piercings, or any other non-traditional form of body wear or
image is not acceptable and will result in removal from the clinical setting.
• Must be maintained so as not to touch an athlete or interfere while
assisting an athlete
• Facial hair must be groomed
Identification:
• Athletic training observation students must wear an identification badge so
as to be easily visible
Game Day Attire: (unless otherwise stated)
• Collared UNCW Sports Medicine shirt
• UNCW Sports Medicine Dryfit shirt in increased temperature
• Khaki pants or shorts
Travel Attire:
• Will be specific to the sport assigned
**If dress clothes are worn for travel/game day attire, members of the
Athletic Training Department must dress appropriately - crop/ halter tops,
low cut tops, form-fitting/shear tops, short hemlines, etc. are not
acceptable
Hygiene
• Hands should be washed or cleansed with sanitizer prior to touching an
athlete
• Fingernails should be short and groomed
*Any questions regarding appropriateness of dress wear of any kind will be decided by
the clinical supervisor and Director of Athletic Training if needed.
Name Tags: All athletic training observation students will be expected to wear nametags
when working in any of the athletic training venues. This will assist in providing clarity
to all student-athletes, coaches and others who interact with Athletic Training Department
personnel. Please assist with this if a student fails to comply with this policy.
Inclement Weather Dress: On occasions when the environment is not conducive to the
previously stated dress code, alternative attire will be acceptable. Conditions that warrant
such acceptance might include, but are not limited to extreme cold exposure, extreme
heat exposure, and rain. While the safety of all Athletic Training Department staff and
