Once the program is in effect, an employee may request to revert back to the original 8:00 a.m. -<br />

4:30 p.m. schedule by providing a fourteen (14) calendar day notice to his/her immediate<br />

supervisor. Changes will take effect at the beginning of the first pay period following<br />

management’s approval of the request.<br />

The Employer retains the right to deny individual requests under this program, and with fourteen<br />

(14) calendar days notice, to end an individual's participation in the alternate scheduling program<br />

where it would adversely affect the operation of the group. The Employer's decision in this regard<br />

are not subject to the grievance procedure in Article 17 of the Master Agreement. An employee<br />

may appeal their supervisor's decision in this regard to the Executive Secretary or designee. If it is<br />

necessary to limit the number of participants within a division, the Employer shall approve the<br />

request(s) from the employee(s) with the most seniority within the division.<br />

Article 3<br />

Holidays and Paid Leave Hours<br />

If a holiday falls on an employee's scheduled four (4) hour day, the employee may request a<br />

change in the days of work within the same pay period with the approval of the supervisor or shall<br />

be paid for eight (8) hours and work eight (8) hour days for the pay period. If a holiday falls on an<br />

employee's scheduled eight and one-half (8-1/2) hour day, the employee shall be paid for eight (8)<br />

hours and adjust their schedule to ensure an eighty (80) hour pay period.<br />

Should an employee be on paid or unpaid leave from work on a day they are scheduled to work,<br />

the time charged to the paid leave or taken as unpaid leave shall be for the total hours they would<br />

have otherwise been in attendance at work that day.<br />

Article 4<br />

Hours of Work<br />

This Supplemental Agreement hereby amends Section 2, Subdivision B-1 and 2 of Article 5 of the<br />

Master Agreement so as to recognize the legitimacy of an eight and one-half (8-1/2) hour work<br />

day.<br />

No additional paid rest periods shall be provided to an employee participating in this program.<br />

The supervisor may temporarily adjust an employee's alternate schedule for vacations,<br />

emergencies or training.<br />

Article 5<br />

Meet and Confer<br />

This supplemental agreement shall be in effect for an indefinite period, or until further negotiated,<br />

beginning the effective date of the Agreement. Should problems occur, the parties agree to meet<br />

and confer in an effort to resolve the issues. If the meet and confer cannot resolve the issues, the<br />

local union reserves the right to terminate this program for any division by providing thirty (30)<br />

calendar days written notice to the other party.<br />
