Shifts Between Days Off (For all employees)<br />

Article 5, Section 3 of the Master Agreement shall be supplemented as follows:<br />

Your supervisor will not schedule you to work more than two (2) shifts and/or two (2) shift changes<br />

between scheduled days off.<br />

If you want an on-going schedule with more than two (2) shifts and/or two shift changes between<br />

days off, you must give your supervisor a written request at least seven (7) days before your<br />

schedule must be posted. The request must be for more than one scheduling period and include<br />

the beginning and ending dates for the modified schedule. Your supervisor will not unreasonably<br />

deny your request. To change back before the requested ending date, you must give your<br />

supervisor written notice at least seven (7) days before your schedule must be posted.<br />

For this section only, a scheduled shift with a starting time within two (2) hours of the starting time<br />

of the first scheduled shift after scheduled days off is considered the same shift. When there is a<br />

scheduled shift rotation, a change no more than two (2) hours from the starting time of the<br />

scheduled shift is not considered a change in shift.<br />

Work Day:<br />

Article 5, Section 3 of the Master Agreement is changed as follows:<br />

Full and Part-time employees: (For all employees) Your normal work day is from four (4) to ten<br />

(10) hours in a defined twenty-four (24) hour period, not including a duty free unpaid meal period.<br />

Work Schedules Containing Twelve (12) Hour Shift: (For Willmar Region only) The Local<br />

Union and the Appointing Authority may mutually agree to develop and implement work schedules<br />

containing twelve (12) hour shifts. Assignments to these schedules shall be posted and bid as<br />

defined in Article 12 of the Master Agreement. Employees shall not be involuntarily assigned to a<br />

twelve (12) hour shift. Employees working such a schedule shall be limited to no more than<br />

sixteen (16) total work hours per day, including regular hours and assigned or voluntary overtime<br />

hours. Such employees shall be designated as 40/7 under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).<br />

Work Period<br />

(For Anoka Region only)<br />

Full-Time Employees. If you are a full-time employee not listed in B. below, your supervisor may<br />

use any of the following schedule patterns:<br />

1. No more than six (6) consecutive work days; no fewer than three (3) consecutive work days;<br />

consecutive days off; or,<br />

2. No more than seven (7) consecutive work days, no fewer than three (3) consecutive work days,<br />

two (2) or more weekends off out of every eight (8) weekends , consecutive days off; or,<br />

3. No more than seven (7) consecutive work days, two (2) weekends off out of every four (4)<br />

weekends, days off may not be consecutive.<br />

If you are a full-time Unit 4 employee working a fixed night or a rotating shift, but are not a<br />

Chemical Dependency Counselor/Senior, the following apply:<br />

You will be scheduled on a 7-3 rotation with every other weekend off.<br />

Your schedule may temporarily change for activities like training, staff development,<br />

informational meetings, team meetings, and special projects.<br />
