Post the vacant position at the preferred TSS classification.<br />

At the discretion of the local hiring authority, other lower TSS classifications may be listed<br />

on the posting form.<br />

When multi-level postings are used, eligible bidders will be considered in order of their<br />

classification seniority, beginning with the highest TSS classification on the posting form.<br />

A qualified bidder at the highest classification posted will be offered the position based on<br />

the current contract provisions (most senior qualified, relatively equal).<br />

If no bidder at the highest classification is qualified, the options below apply:<br />

- Make an appointment under the current provisions of Article 12, Section 7, or<br />

- Consider eligible bidders in the next lower classification listed on the posting form.<br />

All eligible bidders will be notified by the local hiring authority of the results of the vacancy<br />

filling process.<br />

Article 18<br />

Transportation Specialist Series (TSS) Compensation Grid<br />

Employees in classes covered by the TSS Compensation Grid shall advance to the next higher<br />

step at the completion of the months of satisfactory continuous service specified on the<br />

compensation grid for that class, until the maximum rate of pay is attained.<br />

Effective October 1, 2007, all advancement to the next higher step shall be after six (6) months<br />

(semi-annual) of satisfactory performance. See letter in Appendix E for language on the transition<br />

to six (6) months (semi-annual) steps.<br />
