Employees shall be permitted to extend their work season beyond the specified date of their layoff<br />

by the use of accumulated vacation and such extension of time shall not be considered a violation<br />

of the inverse seniority provisions of the layoff.<br />

Employees engaged on an academic year who are not working summer school, shall, within one<br />

week of the completion of all summer school bidding, designate the amount of vacation leave<br />

hours to be used during the fiscal year. Employees engaged in summer school shall, prior to July<br />

1 of each year, designate the amount of vacation leave hours to be used. Such employees shall<br />

indicate the vacation hours they intend to use, pay period by pay period, through the beginning of<br />

the next academic year. Employees may use any amount of vacation time available to them, up to<br />

a total of eighty (80) hours per pay period. The amount of vacation time used need not be the<br />

same for each pay period. Use of such accumulated vacation leave shall not entitle employees for<br />

holiday pay eligibility or conversion of vacation leave to sick leave. Such vacation shall be paid at<br />

the rate at which it was earned.<br />

Article 15, Section 6 shall be modified as follows:<br />

Limited Interruptions of Employment<br />

Limited interruptions of work shall not exceed ten (10) consecutive working days. All other<br />

provisions of Article 15, Section 6 shall apply.<br />

Article 6<br />

Vacation<br />

The Master Agreement shall be supplemented and/or modified as follows:<br />

Employees may use accumulated vacation to cover academic breaks. Such vacation shall be paid<br />

at the rate at which it was earned.<br />

Article 7<br />

Limited Work<br />

The Master Agreement shall be supplemented and/or modified as follows:<br />

If work is not available for all scheduled employees to work on weekends, homegoing and return<br />

days, the available work shall first be offered to the most senior employee in order of Classification<br />

Seniority for positions in Units #2 and #3 or State Seniority for positions in Units #4 and #6 in the<br />

same job class and in the same work area who are capable of performing the work available.<br />

Should the senior employee choose not to accept the work, the next most senior capable<br />

employee shall be offered the work. In the event all capable employees decline the work, the<br />

Appointing Authority shall have the right to assign the work based upon inverse order of<br />

Classification Seniority for positions in Units #2 and #3 or State Seniority for positions in Units #4<br />

and #6 among capable employees.<br />

If a more senior employee must be rescheduled to work the above available work, the Appointing<br />

Authority is not liable for overtime pay.<br />

Employees scheduled to work a midnight to 8:00 a.m. shift on the day following the students' return<br />

shall not be required to work an afternoon shift during the day of the students' return.<br />
