4. Payment for tuition, fees, books, travel expenses, career guidance, and related expenses<br />

at a public institution of post-secondary education, up to the amount of the one-time<br />

enhanced payment to which the employee would be entitled.<br />

The Department in consultation with the exclusive representatives shall develop policies<br />

and procedures to implement the above provision.<br />

An employee selecting this option shall not be placed on any layoff lists under the<br />

applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements.<br />

Section 5. Normal Separation Package.<br />

Employees shall receive the following:<br />

1. Severance Pay<br />

a. As provided for in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.<br />

Article 1<br />

Hours of Work<br />

Article 5 of the Master Agreement is changed as follows:<br />

If you are full-time, you may request a modification in your work schedule which includes:<br />

Eight (8) consecutive hours of work in five (5) consecutive work days,<br />

Ten (10) consecutive hours of work in four (4) work days,<br />

Nine (9) consecutive hours of work in four (4) work days, plus four (4) consecutive hours of<br />

work for the other work day.<br />

Nine (9) consecutive hours of work in four work days, plus eight (8) consecutive hours of<br />

work on the fifth (5th) work day, followed by nine (9) consecutive hours of work in four (4)<br />

work days.<br />

If you want to modify your work schedule, you must submit a written request to your supervisor at<br />

least twenty-one (21) days before the requested change.<br />

Your supervisor will:<br />

Approve or deny your request based on job-related considerations in your work area.<br />

Not unreasonably deny your request.<br />

Approve requests in State Seniority order (within/among classes), if all requests cannot be<br />

approved.<br />

Notify you of the decision in writing within seven (7) calendar days after receiving your<br />

request.<br />

Give the Union a copy of the written decision (including an explanation) if your request is<br />

denied.<br />

Ensure any changes are consistent with Article 5 of the Master Agreement.<br />

Your supervisor will deny your request if it adversely affects another employee’s schedule.<br />

The Union may grieve violations of this provision through Step 3 of the grievance process. If the<br />

violation includes specific provisions of the Master Agreement, the Union may grieve through Step<br />

4 of the grievance process.<br />
