Devido a esta grande diversidade de mecanismos de ações que ocorrem de acordo<br />

com a concentração e com o local de ação, a melatonina tem sido amplamente estudada<br />

por diversos grupos e nos mais diferentes sistemas. Apesar dos vários efeitos fisiológicos e<br />

fisiopatológicos já demonstrados e bem estabelecidos por toda a literatura, muitos destes<br />

efeitos não estão elucidados, abrindo um grande campo de estudo com esta importante<br />

molécula encontrada nos mais diversos organismos.<br />
