Compiling Your Own Super Directory
1. Create a web page for the new directory. Assign a title and meta tags to improve its standing in
searches.
2. Combine links at the super directories found in Exercise 5-2 into your directory. Look for
more super directories at these super directories.
3. Visit each site listed to verify that the link is still active and the site is worthy of inclusion. Note
where you would like the link to your directory.
4. Notify each site selected that it is listed in your directory. Describe the benefits of being listed.
5. Ask that a reciprocal link be provided to your site. Provide the necessary text and graphic logo
with your recommendation for where you would like the link.
6. Visit the resources listed in this guidebook looking for more sites to add.
7. Search for more sites in the major search engines.
8. Register your super directory at search engines.
9. Announce in relevant discussion groups that you have the most complete super directory in the
field and ask for additional sites to list.
10. Contact each new addition notifying them that they are being listed and request a reciprocal
link.
11. Monitor sites in directory to verify they have added a link to your site.
12. Prepare a web marketing plan for your new super directory.
