Descriptive text on Web pages also affects rankings. Follow these guidelines:
Guidelines for Page Text
1.Repeat important keywords at least 4 or 5 times.
2.Include descriptive text on your home page.
3.Look for unusual keyword combinations
4.Text is high on the page.
5.Link to other pages inside your site.
Keywords: Some search engines rank sites based on their "relevance" to the keywords entered by
a searcher. The more key words appear throughout a site, the higher that site appears in search
results. Essential keywords should appear at least four or five times. One way to do this is to add
text in the form of a slogan or trademark at the bottom of each web page. Something along the
order of Ford’s "Quality is Job 1" slogan. While the slogan gives you opportunities to increase the
frequency of keywords on your pages, it wouldn’t be particularly unusual or odd-looking.
For example, we’ve added this slogan to the bottom of our home pages so that our site will
appear higher in search rankings:
Acquire these valuable skills: Web promotion, Web marketing, Web development, Public
relations, Publicist, Advertising, Marketing, Promotion, Training, Instructors, Internet training,
New users support, Entrepreneurs, ISPs, Webmasters, Telecommuters, Business opportunity, Job
seeking, Consulting, Small business development, Home office, marketing skills.
Search engines index text starting with the home page. If your home page lacks descriptive text
your site probably won’t rank as high.
Text in the top half of the page seems to count more than text further down. Don’t ask us why???
If anything pushes the text down, like tables or an image, this could hurt your ranking.
Links to other pages inside your site. Some search engines are unable to index an entire site if they
can’t follow links from the home page. If you have important pages with keywords and
