Ad Clicks<br />

The number of times visitors to a site click on the advertiser’s banner ad.<br />

Autoresponder<br />

A mail server that automatically compiles the names and addresses of people it receives e-mail<br />

from in a mailing list database. At the same time it responds automatically with a pre-formatted<br />

message. Also called "Mailbot."<br />

Bandwidth<br />

Quantity of data that can be transmitted through a medium. Usually measured in bits per<br />

second (BPS).<br />

Banner Ad<br />

A graphical ad at a web site that links to the advertiser’s web site or a page specifically created<br />

for the ad. A banner ad is usually rectangular in shape and colorful. It may include animation and<br />

other multimedia features to induce visitors to click on it.<br />

Baud<br />

Rate at which data is transmitted over a communications medium such as over a telephone<br />

line. Also referred to as bits per second or BPS (example, 28,800 bits per second).<br />

Chat Room<br />

A service or area in an online service or BBS where several users can meet simultaneously and<br />

exchange typed messages.<br />

Click-Through Rate<br />

The percent of banner impressions that results in ad clicks. For example if 100 visitors see a<br />

banner ad and five click-through to the advertiser’s site, the click-through rate is 5%.<br />

Clickstream<br />

The route a visitor navigates around your web site.<br />
