FM441Ezekiel 16:20, 21.Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thydaughters, whom thou hast borne unto Me,and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to bedevoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a smallmatter? That thou hast slain My children, anddelivered them to cause them to pass throughthe fire for them?— The Church gave thechildren of God, begotten of the Word, to enduredoctrines of hell fire (Jer. 7:31) and fiery trials inthe warfares of governments.Ezekiel 16:22.And in all thine abominations and thywhoredoms thou hast not remembered thedays of thy youth, when thou wast naked andbare, and wast polluted in thy blood.— In herpride of place, the church forgot the heathendomfrom which her members had been raised.Ezekiel 16:23-25.And it came to pass after all thy wickedness,(woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord God.)That thou hast also built unto thee an eminentplace, and hast made thee a high place inevery street. Thou hast built thy high place atevery head of the way, and hast made thybeauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thyfeet to every one that passed by, andmultiplied thy whoredoms.— Woe, woe,distress, trouble and destruction to such anapostate, who in every conspicuous way (Isa.57:7) served the interests of the god of thisworld, made her "virtues" detestable tothoughtful men, and offered herself for statechurchunion to every government (street), state,city and town!Ezekiel 16:26.Thou hast also committed fornication with theEgyptians thy neighbors, great of flesh; andhast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke Meto anger.— She united herself with the mostworldly people, great in earthly things.
