Ezekiel 23:35.Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Becausethou hast forgotten Me, and cast Me behindthy back, therefore bear thou also thylewdness and thy whoredoms.— Because shehas forgotten the Lord and cast Him out of hermind, Protestantism shall endure unaided byHim the results of her own evil course.Ezekiel 23:36.The Lord said moreover unto me: Son ofman, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah?yea, declare unto them their abominations.—In Verses 36 to 49 Romanism and Protestantismare together jointly condemned.Ezekiel 23:37.That they have committed adultery, andblood is in their hands, and with their idolshave they committed adultery, and have alsocaused their sons, whom they bare unto me, topass for them through the fire, to devourthem.— They have both effected church-stateunions. They have blood guilt, for wars, and forcausing the spiritualFM479death of multitudes. They have given their heartsto idol doctrines. They have caused God'schildren to endure fiery troubles, and havescorched, scarred and burned their religious liveswith the eternal torment theory.Ezekiel 23:38.Moreover this they have done unto Me; theyhave defiled My Sanctuary in the same day,and have profaned My sabbaths.— They havedefiled God's Sanctuary, the Church, with souldestroyingdoctrines in the same Day, the GospelAge. They have derided the Millennium, andhave substituted works for the rest of faith, as thebasis of justification before God.
