Thanks to Patrick for bringing this up initially, and to Dirk, Wolfgang,
and Mauno for greatly helping to solve this.
There is another Iranian 75mb channel on 3945 kHz (until 0100 UT). Regular
Pashto service as registered??
702 / 1323 "Avbashdanlyq" from 4 am to 9 will be broadcast to religious
education, Islamic Sufism, Islamic history and Miscellaneous items."
"Avbashdanlyq" from 4 am to 9hrs. - Das kommt dann auch mit der
Nationalhymne zum Programmbeginn um 2330 UTC hin. Danke !
(Patrick Robic-AUT, A-DX Aug 29)
Yes, in the file 24th Aug 2330 UT I can hear 702 kHz with clear Tabriz ID
// 1323 kHz, while 846 and 1026 kHz carried R. Iran. 1152 kHz seemed to be
off, as it has been for some years now.
[...] these are special transmissions for Ramadan, 702 kHz and also some
other frequencies have these. 702 kHz is NOT on the air normally at that
time. Last year they carried Tabriz provincial prgr. at that time. I
haven't checked 3985 kHz. I attach a recording from last year of 702 kHz.
You might check for // with 1026 kHz. Sounds like in your clip they read
temperature report for Caucasus area, I think I hear Quba and Naxcivan
mentioned. I have a couple of Perseus files from last week, I'll check
them.
(Mauno Ritola-FIN, Aug 29)
Voice of East Azerbaijan. Some notes:
The 702 kHz facility, at a location also transliterated as Ami Kiasar or
Ami Keyasar, has obviously been designed for transmissions to the then
Soviet Union. It has two directional antennas of four masts each (a
popular much-bang-for-money design), aiming almost due north, one at about
350 and the other at about 10 degrees. WRTH 1994 showed this facility on
702 and 1404 kHz with 800 kW. Apparently since then 1404 kHz has at some
point been replaced by 1521 kHz and now the transmitter is not in use at
all, while the power on 702 kHz is now listed as 500 kW.
3985 kHz is in use from Kamalabad for Russian 1700-1800 and 1930-2030 UT,
so it appears to be save to assume that this applies to the Tabriz
special, too. Has Sirjan an antenna for 75 metres at all?
What originates from Sirjan instead are the regular foreign broadcasts in
Azeri, at present 0330-0530 UT on 13710 kHz and 1430-1700 UT on 6000 kHz.
It is well possible that the IRIB branch at Tabriz is involved in the
production of these programmes, too, although I so far saw only vague
mentions of IRIB studios outside Teheran preparing content for the foreign
service, too.
(Kai Ludwig-D, dxld Aug 30)
3985 is registered for the scrapped Mashhad site - wb says in fact it's
been via Kamalabad for 3 years; AOKI lists Sirjan.
