language, presumably Azeri, and not Farsi.

In 1996-1998 originated undoubtedly from Israel,
from scrapped "Hillel" Kadima Porat site at

and then again in 2002 til Dec 2003, most likely from Gäncä Azerbaijan.

R. Free Azerbaijan?? From about late June[1996] a station in Azeri/Farsi
has been heard 1530-1630 UTC mixing with R. Netherlands to South Asia. The
QRM was bad making ID difficult. However, on 25 July an ID sounding"
...Azadese Azerbaijane..." was heard before it s-off at 1630 UTC. The word
"Azad" or similar sounding ones all mean 'free' in the central asiatic
languages as any DXer would know. So at once we presumed this was a
clandestine and sought the help of BBC_M and we were thrilled to get the
following info from Chris Greenway and we quote
"Victor, Thanks for this. This is definitely a scoop for you as we only
heard about the existence of this station on 25th July, so it was
interesting to know that you've been hearing it for a while. It appears to
be aimed at so-called "southern Azerbaijan", i.e. Azerbaijan province in
northwestern Iran, rather than the Republic of Azerbaijan itself. It's an
ANTI-Iranian operation. It's early days yet but I hope we'll be able to
let you know more soon."
