Azeri lang. Clandestine radio stn Voice of Southern Azerbaijan (Azeri:
Bura Janubi Azerbaijan Sasi), from Israel, programming is hostile to the
Iranian govt. Operated by the National and Independent Front of Southern
Azerbaijan.
Now also daily MORNING progr on 13645, ex11935, S=2-3. Typical VOSA style,
P.O.Box addr given at 0615, and phone no. in Den Haag in the Netherlands.
Program ends at 06.16:30, tx s-off at 06.16:40. 0515-0615 and 1530-1630,

KOL tx site in Jerusalem-ISR noted with extreme strong signal s-on at 0613
UT. Before the VOSA progr started, KOL ISR nx could be observed, // 15615
kHz.

New Azeri broadcast from Dec 2002.
[IRAN non] The online newspaper Baku Today, quoting the press sce of SANAM
[Southern Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement], says that the first
independent radio of Southern Azerbaijanis, "Voice of South Azerbaijan
Radio", will start bcing progrmes directed towards South Azerbaijan in the
first week of January. The progrmes will be bc twice a week, says the
report.
SANAM is one of the largest opposition groups in Iran. An estimated 16
million Azeris live in Iran, about twice as many as in Azerbaijan itself.
A stn of the same name was active in 1996-1998, and was the subject of an
investigative report by Clandestine R Watch:
[suggesting a possible link to Israel].
It's not yet clear if there's a link between the two.

Middle Eastern lang at 1630-1700 UT on 9375 kHz since 8.1.03 and on 9, 15
and 16. Now I think this is the promised Voice of South Azerbaijan.

9375 Voice of Southern Azerbaijan presumed the one here, 1627 tune in
carrier, 1631 annt by man in Middle Eastern lang with many mentions of
Azerbaijan, democratia and a freq announced in MHz, "Azerbaijan sud(?)
radyosu" heard, then into commentaries and interviews with occasional mxal
