LW DLF Donebach 153 kHz 500 kW is off on regular annual maintenance May 25
to May 31, approx. 0515 to 1900 UT daily. (DLF, may 25)
GREECE BrDXC-UK ng meldet: Filia Radio 11645 kHz. Filia Radio announcer,
Angelika Timms, said at the end of the English programme of Filia Radio at
0555 UT this morning (19 May) on 11645 kHz that the programme would not be
back until Friday because of the general strike in Greece tomorrow (Thurs
20 May). Presumably this will affect all public service broadcasts in
Greece.
I tuned in half way through Filia Radio's English hour on 11645 kHz at
0530 UT, so thought at first it was a new frequency for BBC WS as was
relaying BBC WS news ( // 648 9410 kHz) then a "World Today" ID before
reverting to mix of pop and news items read by Angelika Timms. Similarly
at begining of French programme at 0600 UT on 11645 kHz it carried a relay
of RFI news.

Morgen[May 20] ist Generalstreik in Athen. Auch Filia Radio auf 11645 kHz
ist mit dem deutschen Programm betroffen?
11645 9420 15630 kHz. Um 0800 UT gab es ein Einheitsprogram auf ERT5 VoGRC
und Radio Filia, mit Wortmeldungen und viel Musik. Kein Programm in
deutscher Sprache.
Delay. Das 9420 Programm und der Livestream im Internet differieren um
27 Sekunden.

GUINEA 4900 Our station Familia SW just began broadcasting
intermittently at the end of March. We had some equipment challenges and
we have them repaired a week ago and now we can now have nightly stabile
broadcasting. We are using what is called Low Power Short Wave. We use a
1000 watt transmitter built by HCJB Radio in the US. As far as I know
there are only 3 stations like this in the world. The specifications say
that our strongest signal would reach a 400 kilometre circumference around
the antenna at midnight. We are using an antenna that is 40 meters X 60
meters - most being buried in the ground and reflecting upwards. It is a
unique design.
Our goal is to broadcast in the languages of the country we originate in.
That would be French, Pular and Maninka for the beginning. We are
beginning from 6pm to midnight during our beginning period. There is no
electricity where we are located, so we are using solar and wind
generators. Having enough energy for our transmitter and air-conditioner
is proving one of our larger challenges.

4900v Sehr schwaches Signal aus Guinea gestern abend um 2205 UTC auf
4899,98 kHz. Bei der Afro-Musik ging's noch einigermassen, aber bei den
Wortbeitraegen war gerade mal Maennlein von Weiblein zu unterscheiden -
Sprache erkennen genauso unmoeglich wie eine eindeutige ID. Dazu kamen
noch Splatter vom Chinesen auf 4905 kHz.
