SWAZILAND HCJB Global Technology Center in Elkhart, Ind., successfully
repaired and upgraded a 50 kW SW transmitter for use by Trans World Radio
(TWR) in Swaziland. The transmitter was shipped to the US a couple of
years ago. Last spring a final test went wrong and the transmitter was
damaged, but technicians succeeded in create new documentations
notwithstanding it was a prototype with Serial No. 1, and the original
documentation from the manufacturer had been lost. On Oct 20 the
transmitter was finally shipped to Africa. It is scheduled to arrive at
TWR's site before Christmas.
The delay did help the engineers correct some problems in components that
were not part of the upgrade. The changes will also improve the
reliability and maintainability of the transmitter in Africa, HCJB says in
their weekly newsletter. HCJB Technology Center is now working on a 100 kW
transmitter to be refurbished for HCJB Global-Australia's international
broadcast facility in Kununurra.

but here at 1800 UT nonetheless. Good signal but beat up on by BBC
on 9505 kHz.
